Introduction: Analysis of occupational accidents can identify and reduce the working environment risks. This is thus helpful in creating a secure working environment and increasing workers' productivity. Purpose of This study was to identify hazards and assess their risk through the job safety analysis technique in one metal industry of the country.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, potential risks were identified and activities' risk levels were assessed by Job Safety Analysis. Risk level (RAC) was calculated based on the two parameters of severity and likelihood of risk. Finally, control measures were presented based on risk levels' assessment code and their prioritization.
Results: Based on the results achieved from investigations of saws, disc saws, format substitution, and Geyzak press jobs, a total of 107 risks were identified. After their analysis and risk assessment, 13% of them were in the unacceptable level, 49% were in the medium level, and 38% of the risks were acceptable. The corrective and preventive recommendations were then presented to remove or limit these risks.
Conclusion: Based on the results, it is possible to reduce the risks significantly by providing appropriate tools and personal protective equipment, and implementation of the proposed measures.
